About

IGNITE @ the FORD!

This dynamic evening combines Mivos Quartet’s expressive and boundary-pushing string renditions with Saul Williams' evocative vocal poetry. The centerpiece of the evening is a rare performance of NGH WHT (The Dead Emcee Scrolls), with text by Williams and music by Swiss avant-garde composer Thomas Kessler, in which the poet's singular voice integrates with the music of Mivos Quartet to create a provocative interaction between hip-hop and contemporary classical music. For this intimate and exclusive event, audiences will experience this powerful expression of symphonic eclecticism in the round on the Ford stage.

Pack a picnic or pick up tasty bites from the café on The Zev and you’ll be treated to a live DJ set, courtesy of LA County Library’s Turns the Tables program. This free program pairs young DJs with a professional to learn the art of turntablism. From 6:30 – 8:00 PM, DJ PriceTag and DJ Runaway will be spinning tunes as the sun sets over the Cahuenga Pass.

This event is part of IGNITE @ the FORD!, a series presented by the Ford Theatre Foundation comprised of world-renowned contemporary artists whose work is thought-provoking and reflects the world in which we live. Supported by Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl.
