Presented by 89.9 KCRW and Afro Funke’, Africa Rising celebrates the influence and legacy of African music, culture and art. Grammy-nominated and Ghanaian-born Rocky Dawuni, co-founder of Afro Roots, brings a mix of reggae, Afrobeat, highlife and soul, for an evening of live collaboration. Wondem, an Ethiopian influenced music ensemble led by Dexter Story will be joined by Congolese-Belgian songstress Marie Daulne of world-renowned Afro pop group Zap Mama. Spinning cross-cultural dance floor sets will be Afro Funke' resident DJs Jeremy Sole (KCRW) and Glenn Red. Drummers, dancers, visual artists and more from across the Diaspora will round out the eclectic night. The evening will be hosted by NAACP Image and SAG award-winning actor, producer, activist and author Isaiah Washington.
