IGNITE @ The Ford

Hollywood Shorts is a monthly screening program that celebrates award-winning short films and animation, shining a light on exciting emerging voices. Hollywood Shorts returns to the Ford for three outdoor summer screenings on The Zev as part of their 20th season in Los Angeles. Attendees can grab free popcorn or something heartier at the Ford Terrace Café before kicking back to enjoy an evening of the best short films under the Hollywood stars. 

Robin Joseph
(12 minutes)
A curious fox goes in search of an elusive whale.  A jourey of pursuit and longing.

Robin Joseph is a Canadian animation professional, born in Karala, India.  His credits include Despicable Me, The Lorax, Penguins of Madagascar and The Secret Lives of Pets.  FOX AND THE WHALE is his directing debut, and the film was crafted over the course of two years with just a two-person team.  

David Miller & Frank Borin

An adaptation of the micro-opera by Samuel Barber (1958), two couples reveal their deepest desires, darkest featre and wildest fantasties during their weekly bridge game.
David Miller is a filmmaker and opera singer, and he is the American alto in the classical crossover quartet IL DIVO.  Frank Borin is a veteran music video director, and he has created some of the most iconic videos with artists including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duran Duran, Backstreet Boys, Cypress Hill and Eminem.  
Justin O'Neal Miller

Everything always seems to work out perfectly for Peggy, but her social graces are put to the test when she throws a birthday party for her eight-year-old son.

Justin O’Neal Miller is a filmmaker and art director.  His film and tv credits include The Walking Dead, Ant-Man, Baby Driver and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

Ellen Evans

Kath Holden is an artist of the everyday. Inspired by the world around her, Kath, a proud Yorkshire woman, reflects on her life and art as she carves a place for herself. 

Ellen Evans is an award-winning documentary director whose short films have been screened at Sundance, SXSW, Hot Docs, and on the BBC. Ellen has been supported by Film Roundhouse as an 'Emerging Artist', by the Indie Training Fund as a 'Rising Director' and is a member of the 2019 BAFTA Crew.

Thembi Banks & Claudia Forestieri

When an anti-immigrant candidate wins the presidency, a jaded Latina news producer sheds her cynicism and connects with her suppressed in ner activist. 
Thembi Banks is a 2018 HBO ACCESS Directing Fellow and is an alum of Film Independents Project Involve. She received her MFA at USC’s Film & TV production program and is a co-producer on Apple TV’s drama Home Before Dark. She has been a tv writer on SMILF, Daytime Divas and Step Up.  
Claudia Forestieri is a 2018 HBO ACCESS Writing Fellow and is the co-producer of Netflix’s upcoming drama Selena. Claudia started as a reporter and producer for Telemundo, and then entered the tv episodic world as a writing on Good Trouble for Freeform. 

This event is part of IGNITE @ the FORD!, a series comprised of world-renowned contemporary artists whose work is thought-provoking and reflects the world in which we live. Proceeds benefit the Ford Theatre Foundation.

For this intimate event - which can accommodate approximately 150 people - the off-site parking lot is not available. Free, stacked parking is available on site and free shuttles will pick up from the Universal City/Studio City Metro stop.
