Reservations are recommended. If you want to make a mini-movie, please plan to arrive by noon. 

Parking is nonstacked and free.



Create your own mini-movie! Our friends at Hollywood Shorts will provide the equipment, props and Hollywood pros to help you make your own short movie. Scripts, green screens, cameras, lights and sound will help you recreate famous scenes from American cinema. This free event is perfect for the whole family! All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Other activities include:

  • Film Festival - kid-friendly films from around the world will be screened in the Community Room, curated by Hollywood Shorts.
  • Music - two graduates from Los Angeles County Library's Turns the Tables series will DJ.
  • MākMō: get your STEAM on with hands-on activities designed to inspire young brains.
  • Crafts: little ones can get busy with creative craft activities provided by Go As If.
  • StoryCorps: Share and record your foster family's story.

Plus: Continental breakfast and light snacks will be provided.


Funding for the Ford Theatres Foster Youth Initiative is provided by Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, as well as the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles; the James Irvine Foundation; and Million Dollar Roundtable.
