Imagine…the night sky above, your favorite person by your side, and the dreamy sounds of bolero music - Latin America’s most romantic musical style that originated out of Cuba. Sounds like the perfect date night, right? Then the Ford is #theplacetobe on Sunday, September 15 when Boleros De Noche returns to pay tribute to this timeless art form.
Headlining this year’s show is Trio Los Panchos, who are widely considered to be not only one of the most important pioneers of trio romantico music but also one of the most famous Latin American musical acts of the 20th century. Throughout their decades-long career, they’ve sold millions of records around the world and appeared in countless films during the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. The current incarnation of Trio Los Panchos is led by Gabriel "Gaby" Vargas Aguilar, the adopted son of original member Alfredo Gil, who plays requinto guitar (like his father) and is keeping their classic repertoire alive.
The Latin Grammy-nominated Trio Ellas opens the show with their singular sound rooted in traditional mariachi and tempered by the musical melting pot of the LA music scene. Eluding stereotypes, this dynamic trio, comprised of Suemy Gonzalez (violin and vocals), Nelly Cortez (guitarron and vocals) and Stephanie Amaro (guitar and vocals), have worked with artists as diverse as Lady Gaga, Sheila E., and Lila Downs (who’ll be making her own appearance at the Ford in October).
Boleros De Noche bridges generations by melding the old with the new for a one-of-a-kind musical experience that is not to be missed. A night for lovers and lovers of music under the stars.
The 4th Annual Boleros De Noche takes place on Sunday, September 15 at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info here.
